Animals' Disaster Team |
ADT Training Process
To become a member of the Animals' Disaster Team, a person must complete a six-course Basic Training program. At completion, the individual will be certified as an emergency responder. (You must be certified to be actively involved in responding to a critical incident.)
The Basic Training workshops cover the following training:
1) A. Geographic breakdown of the county
B. Hazmat Class
2) Psychological Reactions to Disasters
3) Domestic / Small Animal Behavior and Handling
4) Farm / Large Animal Behavior and Handling
5) Exotic Animal Behavior and Handling
6) The Humane Aspects of Handling Disasters
In addition, as programs become available, there will be continuing education workshops that you will be required to take. Some of these classes include: Horse Handling, Severe Weather, Paperwork/Forms, and Bird Handling.
