Have you ever wondered how far you've ridden on a trail ride? Here's how to figure it out. Use a car's odometer to measure 1 mile of trail near a road. Walk your horse this mile at his own normal pace, and time how long it takes to cover the distance. Use the chart below to calculate how fast he typically walks per hour. Time your next trail ride, then figure out how far you've gone based on how fast your horse walks.
