Accurate Corrections:

Corrections are just simply methods for modifying undesirable behav-iors to acceptable behaviors. They may come in several forms depending upon the situation that you are facing. The important thing to remember when correcting a wrong behavior is to be quick to respond, assertive and clear with your voice, signals or leash so that the puppy immediately gets the message. Don't talk to him in phrases when trying to modify a behavior. This only adds to his confusion. Keep your words to one syllable commands. In puppy or dog training, the timing of correction and praise is everything. Even seconds in hesitation gives your pup the opportunity to become distracted or creative.

Through accurate corrections and repeti-tion your puppy will actually start to believe that you know what he's thinking before he does the behavior. When this happens, your pup will begin to think out his actions before doing them, appearing to us as knowing right from wrong. That's when you see true behavior changes.
