Puppy Pre-School; "SIT COMMAND":
When your puppy is in a sitting position, he is calmer and easier to handle in any situation. The simplest method for achieving this position is to place your right hand on the puppy's chest and slide your left hand down over the back, stopping at the 2 little indents just before the hip bones. Command "SIT" using your thumb and longest finger, gently apply a bit of pressure on each of the 2 indent spots, (this is the same as our waist area). Your pup will automatically place himself into a sitting position. Immediately praise with a relaxed tone "GOOD PUPPY". Rest your right hand back up on the puppy's shoulders to steady him and help him hold the position. After a few moments, remove your hands and release the pup with an enthusiastic "OK". Reward him with lots of verbal and hands on praise.
